Prasada Development
The Prasada project is a large-scale commercial and mixed-use development located in Surprise, Arizona, at the base of the White Tank Mountains. Red Development, Westcor, and WDP have partnered to create the 1,750 acre development, which will include a regional mall, two large commercial centers, one of the largest auto malls in the nation, a hospital and clinic, single family residential housing, high density residential housing, and office space.
Olsson Associates worked closely with Suite 6 and the owners to further develop the vision and translate that vision from concept to construction documents. The scope includes designing major arterial roadways, developing an overall Master Street Plan (MSP), and designing collector roads leading to the new auto mall and two power centers.
In addition to designing the roadway improvements, Olsson is also responsible for several individual projects within Prasada, including arterial streetscapes, The 303 Autoshow, Waddell Center West, and the Multi-use easements. Olsson is providing civil engineering, roadway engineering, traffic engineering, water resources, landscape architecture, and electrical engineering services. These disciplines have developed master roadway plans, master drainage plans, master utility plans, master sleeving plans, and master landscape plans, including monumentation, hardscape, landscape, and irrigation design, for one of the premiere mixed use developments in the valley.
This project is different from most commercial developments in that Olsson is working in concert with the City of Surprise to develop master street plans for 20 miles of public roadways associated with this development. The one-mile roadway grid system already existed when Prasada started. However, because of the rural nature of the Prasada site abutting existing developments to the east, extensive coordination was necessary. It was extremely important to the success of the project to be able to work quickly and produce quality designs for all stakeholders involved.
Due to the scale and complexity of the project, it has been necessary to constantly communicate and coordinate with multiple public agencies and surrounding developers.
