Ransom Memorial Hospital and Renovations
Practices:
Olsson provided special inspections and materials testing services for a renovation project at Ransom Memorial Hospital in Ottawa, Kansas. The hospital has operated since 1931. The 55-bed facility has more than 280 employees. The project calls for a 16,000-square-foot addition for a new operating suite and LDRP unit. It also calls for renovating 20,000 square feet on the first and second floors. The existing second floor will be converted into new administrative areas, patient rooms, and an intensive care unit. The current operating room on the first floor will be converted into a new PACU and surgical support area.
Olsson's Special Inspections team provided testing services before and during excavation of the building and pavement subgrades, wall backfull, asphaltic concrete, and structural concrete. The team also performed special inspections for building site soil development, verification of bearing materials, reinforced cast-in-place concrete, structural masonry, and structural steel.
Olsson supplied a welding inspector during construction of the structural steel. Olsson provided daily reports outlining each day's observations -- presenting field test results, describing the progress and acceptability of the work, and addressing any required remedial action.
