Children's Campus of Kansas City
Practices:
With a grand opening on June 8, 2010, the Children's Campus of Kansas City (CCKC) is a 72,000-square foot, $15.5 million Educare Center located on the corner of 5th Street and Minnesota Avenue in Kansas City, Kansas. The land was donated by the Dickinson Financial Corporation. CCKC was founded in 2004 with the goal of helping children at or below the poverty level have access to the resources available to succeed. Studies have shown that children from low income households are at a greater risk for health and social problems and often enter kindergarten two grade levels behind their peers from higher income households.
Working with the architect, RDG Planning and Design, Olsson Associates provided preliminary plans, final plan development, stormwater management, retaining wall design, and landscape design and is also anticipated to achieve a LEEDŽ Silver certification for the project. CCKC will house early childhood services; family support services; health, oral health, and mental health services for young children and their families. Twelve model early education classrooms in the building will be managed by Project EAGLE, which serves more than 1,000 children and their families annually.
