Olsson Associates has added Tonia Kinish, PE, to its Omaha Mechanical and Electrical team as an associate engineer.
Kinish brings more than four years of experience working in electrical and mechanical system layout, equipment selection and specifications, calculations and analysis, project management, construction cost estimating, construction management and field inspection.
She has both a B.S. and an M.S. in architectural engineering from the University of Nebraska.

Olsson Associates has added Melissa Lambert as a senior engineer to its Golden Environmental team.
Melissa brings more than 16 years of experience working in many aspects of environmental, civil and geotechnical engineering. Her expertise includes performing program and project management, developing construction specifications and drawings, providing construction management and oversight, developing remedial designs, making preliminary assessments, estimating costs, conducting environmental field activities, developing a wide variety of CERCLA- and RCRA-required documentation and managing hazardous waste. Her management experience includes industrial, commercial and federal clients.
Lambert has a B.S. in geological engineering from the University of Missouri-Rolla

Olsson Associates is pleased to announce that two staff members have recently received surveyor-in-training (SIT) certification. To receive SIT status, one must graduate from an approved surveying or engineering curriculum, have four or more years of surveying experience and pass an exam.

Olsson Associates is pleased to announce that eleven staff members recently passed the professional engineering (PE) exam. The requirements to become a professional engineer include four years of professional experience under a licensed professional engineer and passing the PE exam.

Mike Pessina, a member of Olsson's Springfield Water/Wastewater team, was just announced as the "Young Engineer of the Year" at the Missouri Society of Professional Engineers annual meeting.

The Nebraska Society of Professional Engineers (NeSPE) has announced Ryan Kosola, PE, as its 2009 Young Engineer of the Year. NeSPE awards this distinction annually to recognize a licensed professional engineer, 35 years of age or younger, who has made outstanding contributions to the engineering profession and their community. Kosola, 27, is an associate engineer with Olsson's transportation team in Lincoln. He was nominated for the award by NeSPE's Southeast Chapter.
Kosola has held several elected positions with NeSPE at the chapter and state levels since 2006. He also is actively involved with the chapter and state MATHCOUNTS competition, a national mathematics achievement program and contest for middle school students.

John S. Olsson was named a recipient of the 2008-2009 Kenneth J. Miller Founders' Award. Established in 2001 by Water For People's Board of Directors, the Miller Awards honor outstanding volunteer service contributed to this international development organization. John will be recognized at a Water For People luncheon on June 15.

Olsson Associates has added Darrin Hall as a senior surveyor to its Joplin Survey team.
Hall has more than 18 years of experience in all levels of survey for private party, commercial development and city/state municipalities. His experience includes construction staking; ALTA, topos and boundary surveys; Auto CADD drafting; and the application of GPS, robotic total stations and data collection.
Prior to joining Olsson, Hall was owner and operator of Baseline Land Surveying, LLC, for four years.

Olsson Associates has added Craig Coronato, FASLA, as team leader for its Denver Landscape Architecture/Urban Planning team.
He has more than 26 years of experience in planning and design for a variety of public and private projects in the U.S., China and South Korea. A registered landscape architect, Coronato's expertise includes community master planning and design, park and recreation design, town and retail centers, public infrastructure and corporate campus design.
Coronato's primary role has been leading multidisciplinary teams on highly complex projects, which often involve public process. His work in the development of sustainable design best practices has contributed to the role of landscape architecture in developing and developed parts of the world.
His recent experience has included China's Chongqing Yangtze Riverfront Masterplan, Tianjin Eco City, and U.S. sustainable mixed-use communities at Stapleton and Mesa del Sol in New Mexico.
Coronato has a bachelor of landscape architecture degree from the State University of New York's College of Environmental Science and Forestry at Syracuse and an MBA from Long Island University.

Olsson Associates has added Tony Egelhoff, PE, as a project engineer to its Omaha Transportation team.
Egelhoff has more than seven years of experience in urban and rural roadway project design, traffic engineering, and civil design work throughout the Midwest. His experience includes project management and design for the Lincoln East and South Beltways, design for U.S. Highway 12 in Niobrara and multiple interchange projects. Egelhoff has also been involved with traffic and engineering design for U.S. Highway 10 reconstruction in Fargo and traffic engineering for several Omaha developments.
Egelhoff has a B.S. in civil engineering and a M.S. in transportation engineering from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
